Position overview and Responsibilities: 

Anastasia State Park seeks a positive, outgoing, creative, self-motivated park service professional to serve as Park Services Specialist, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. This position requires a high-energy, dedicated, innovative individual who is committed to protecting and interpreting Florida’s natural and cultural resources.

Incumbents must have experience in special event planning and execution, volunteer management, and public speaking. The incumbent will be primary point-of-contact on weekends.

Your Specific Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for maintaining good public relations, for carrying out a public information program, developing and implementing a comprehensive volunteer program, organizing and implementing special events, visitor service programs, and professional training programs for the park and establishing and maintaining resource management activities.

Plans and conducts community outreach activities to expand public understanding of the Florida Park Service resource management and protection objectives. Represents the park and Florida Park Service to outside agencies and organizations, disseminating information and promoting outdoor recreational opportunities provided by the park.

Provide research planning, coordination and conducts the interpretation of the natural cultural resources within the park, including guided walks, campfire programs, tours recreation skills programs and special events.

Researches the history of a division facility, both cultural and natural and develops plans for restoration and implementation.

Serves as liaison between park and District Park Programs Development Specialist and Education and Training Specialist.

Provides research, development and library of funding sources for the park via corporate/foundation and public support entities. Design and implement public marketing relations program to encourage corporate/foundation and private support of the park.

Plans, organizes and conducts in-service training programs to meet the needs of the park's employees.

Participates in planning and conducting resource management activities by implementing resource management techniques required to manage and restore natural communities.

Performs other related parking duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of: Florida ecosystems, natural communities, resource management techniques required to interpret natural communities; cultural resources preservation and restoration techniques; technical report writing and effective verbal and written communication principles and techniques.

Skill in: developing and leading interpretive programs; effective verbal and written communication principles and techniques; leadership roles; organizing, planning, and running events; recruiting and supervising volunteers; comprehending and applying rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations; utilizing computers, software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to: participate: participate in all aspects of resources management; lift 40 pounds; operate a cash register; operate vehicles, heavy equipment; perform physical labor working outdoors in Florida’s inclement weather, working independently with minimum supervision, maintain effective working relationships with other; work independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license
• Successfully complete background and fingerprint checks 

Position of Special trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Pay:

$3,176.43 monthly/ $38,117.16 annually
