Who are we?
FSDB is a state public school available at no cost to eligible pre-K and K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind/visually impaired or deafblind, including boarding and transportation services. FSDB is nationally recognized for its comprehensive educational services, designed for the unique communication and accessibility needs of students. FSDB also provides educational outreach programs for children ages 0-5 and their families. The FSDB experience provides students with the edge to do more, be more, and achieve more.
How you will make an impact
The incumbent of this position ensures high quality services are provided through FSDB’s early intervention initiatives for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing by directly supporting the Director of Deaf/Hard of Hearing Early Intervention and program staff. Monitor and assist with the implementation of established policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with program and administrative requirements. Tasks include administrative tasks, coordination, analysis, and maintenance of records and supporting the Director with projects and tasks as needed.
- Serves as a liaison for the Director of DHH, to include meetings, note taking, correspondence, emails, telephone, and videophone. Ensures staff meetings, trainings, and events have effective communication exchange between all users by scheduling interpreters as needed, acting as a language facilitator as requested, monitoring group conversations for comprehension. Enters data on templates and letterhead for internal and external communications as requested. Attends meetings/workshops as necessary for information exchange. Complete employment verifications and communicate with applicants in the hiring process. Conducts onboarding activities with new hires, as requested. Prepares monthly status updates reports. Coordinate annual quality assurance survey, collect data, and compile reports.
- Completes purchase orders and agency fund requests, as requested. Processes invoices as received. Coordinates receiving of materials and supplies. Coordinates program level mailings and shipments. Tracks and transfers fiscal data into data system. Produces reports, budget spending overviews, and cost calculations upon request.
- Acts as program travel agent for part time staff and FTE staff as requested. Works with Director of DHH EI and staff to organize and execute program trainings, meetings, professional conferences, and exhibits. Prepares travel authorizations. Prepares inter-agency memos as well as staff directory information, lists and reports for approval. Participates in training activities to further own knowledge. Participates in program wide initiatives and events. Conducts travel as needed.
- Works with Placement and Training Specialist to reconcile mileage reports against provider logs. Performs mathematical calculations to ensure accurate computation of mileage reimbursement requests. Acts as timekeeper to reconcile payroll requests and submissions against PeopleFirst data management system. Performs clerical duties to maintain file organization of electronic and printed archives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of programmatic needs of early intervention;
- Skills in Microsoft 365 Suite, especially in Microsoft Excel and Access;
- Skills in notetaking and typing;
- Ability to maintain records in confidential manner which can be easily retrieved;
- Ability to work well with a team dedicated to statewide services to school personnel and other agency personnel;
- Ability to attain sign language proficiency level in accordance with FSDB O.P.P.1.24.
- Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired during CPR.
Qualifications
• Three years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
• College education from an accredtited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
• Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
• A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
Preferred
ASL fluency, Spanish fluency, knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
Sign Language Requirements
Applicants who are selected for hire will be required to attain a Survival Plus proficiency in sign language within four years of hire.
Please note: The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind provides education to acquire sign language skills.
Hiring Salary Range 12-month position, $40,456.00- $47,956.00 annually. This range is inclusive of verified experience and education.

Additional Related and verified Full-time Experience (20-year max) addl $150.00 per year
