                                                                                                         Accountant I- Accounts Payable

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Compare invoices with purchase orders to verify all information
  • Create invoices within Ariba on Demand, verifying goods and services have been received by the program departments
  • Research and analyze invoices for duplicate payments
  • Provide support to program staff relating to accounts payable and travel policies and processes
  • Prepare journal transfers
  • Reconcile FLAIR encumbrance file with tracking spreadsheets
  • Assist with training of staff for STMS and Works systems
  • Maintain tracking spreadsheets and notify program staff of issues with timeliness compliance

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

 

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to an accounting program.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to sit quietly at desk for extended periods of time to complete assignments
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in use of personal computer and applicable software including Excel and Word.
  • Skill in use of basic office equipment including phone, fax and copiers.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum-

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Ability to apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program

Aptitude to work independently and as part of a team

Skill in using basic office equipment, including phone, fax, and copiers

 

Preferred-

Experience in accounts payable or auditing

Experience working with Ariba on Demand

Experience working in FLAIR

Knowledge of State of Florida Travel reimbursement policies and procedures

Knowledge of State of Florida State Purchasing Card policies and procedures
