POSITION TITLE: OPS Deputy Marshal (Intermittent as needed)
POSITION NUMBER: TBD
SALARY: $28.85/hr.
LOCATION: St. Petersburg, 525 Mirror Lake Drive N.
Shifts will be scheduled between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED, and one year of college or vocational school education in law enforcement.
Requires a valid State of Florida Driver's License and three years' experience in law enforcement, or related experience in the military.
Must have a current law enforcement certificate in the State of Florida.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
This is a sworn law enforcement position. The deputy marshal provides security services to protect judges, courthouse staff, visitors, and the physical court facilities. This includes perimeter security, access control, closed-circuit television surveillance, and alarm reporting systems.
The position is responsible for screening visitors, monitoring activities using video surveillance equipment, patrolling the building and grounds, managing emergency situations, assisting with the training of security personnel, and performing related clerical tasks. The deputy marshal is responsible for the pursuit, apprehension, and arrest of violators of the law within the building, grounds, and district-wide locations while on duty for the Second District Court of Appeal. Requires continuous and close attention to detail. Carries a firearm and must meet and maintain high standards, which are measured by the FDLE law enforcement officer firearms qualification course.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must not have been convicted of any felony or any misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, domestic violence, or have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. The successful applicant will be subject to a full criminal background investigation.
