Minimum Qualifications:
5 years professional experience in a closely related biological field or laboratory program is required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences and one year of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program; or A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences can substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants with scientific and/or technical writing experience are encouraged to apply and may be given preference.

Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory Level 1 background check at no cost to the candidate.
Office hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Not eligible for Telework.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in Saint Petersburg, FL, is looking for a field and laboratory technician to support the Seagrass Ecology Lab. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the acquisition and processing of seagrass samples for the Seagrass Ecology Lab. Specific duties include maintaining field and laboratory equipment, operating vehicles, trailers and small vessels (<25 ft), processing ecological samples, and data entry and QAQC. Approximately 20% of overnight travel is expected with this position. Funding for this position is provided by a recurring SFWMD grant. Continued employment is subject to a bi-annual (2y) renewal.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The entry-level knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) needed to perform job duties are: 1) possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marine, biological, ecological or environmental science; 2) possess an open-water SCUBA certification; 3) possess a valid driver’s license; 4) possess a valid boating safety certificate; 5) familiarity with the basic principles and techniques used in scientific data collection.
