CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
  3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
  4. This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
  5. As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
  6. Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must currently possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Must have the FL DOC Non-Department Supervisor Certification within One (1) year of employment and maintain annually.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.
  • Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates tools and equipment to perform the custodial duties interior and exterior of buildings assigned including: performing proper custodial maintenance for sweeping; mopping; vacuuming; and scrubbing surfaces such as walls, doors, ceilings, hard flooring, carpet, sidewalks and entranceways. Stripping, sanding, waxing and polishing vinyl flooring. Shampooing carpet and other cloth fibered surfaces. Cleaning windows interior and exterior of buildings assigned. Cleans window blinds, office furniture, building light lens, air vents, and other appliances where care must be taken that certain products are not destroyed in the process. Cleans restrooms and replenishes hygienic products in restrooms and breakrooms. Removes trash and recyclable products from buildings assigned and transports them to the proper disposal areas on post. Delivers janitorial supplies to buildings assigned. And, if provided inmates: performs custodial duties while overseeing them as they provide assistance to the incumbent.
  • Completes other custodial related work orders as provided as needed to provide teamwork assistance to other CBJTC employees in the performance of their duties to further the mission of the training center. Maintain the DPW compound and related facilities to ensure complete compliance to the Post’s Hazardous Management Program.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Be able to understand English, be able to calculate basic arithmetic, and be able to write reports legibly.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain good relationships in the workplace.
  • Ability to safely work with manual, electrical and gasoline powered cleaning equipment around other personnel.
