CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
- As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
- Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A High School Diploma AND
- Two (2) years of basic experience involving electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems.
- Must have a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist, grasp, push, pull.
- Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists electrician installing circuits and panels, repairing/installing light fixtures, and replacing electrical motors. Always use safety lockout procedures.
- Assist plumbers with plumbing repairs or installing new fixtures.
- Performs preventative maintenance on hot water heaters.
- Performs general carpentry repairs and alterations to include repairing or installing windows and screens. Repairs are professional and durable.
- Maintains berms, firing points, and fox holes to prevent and correct erosion. Maintains ranges to include mowing, trimming and edging around range facilities, targets and firing points.
- Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical heat and air conditioning equipment. Equipment is vacuumed, lubricated, filters changed, and unit re-secured in a professional manner. Lockout procedures are always used.
- Comply with Hazardous Waste Management Rules and Regulations in the workplace. Wastes are properly turned in. Containers are handled and stored correctly.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of skilled building trades or mechanical repair work.
- Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
- Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators and other mechanical equipment.
- Ability to take accurate measurements.
- Ability to follow instructions.
