The mission of the Florida Department of Military Affairs is to provide management oversight of the Florida National Guard and provide units and personnel ready to support national security objectives; to protect the public safety of citizens and to contribute to the national, state and community programs that add value to the United States of America and to the State of Florida.
FLORIDA YOUTH CHALLENGE ACADEMY
The Florida Youth Challenge Academy’s mission is to provide a highly disciplined and motivational environment, free from outside distractions, which fosters academics, leadership, development, personal growth, self-esteem, and physical fitness for qualifying high school dropouts. The Academy consists of an operational staff and cadre with in-depth military experience, certified instructors from the Clay County School District system, a registered nurse, counselors and recruitment and placement personnel.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
- As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
- Must be able to pass a Department of Juvenile Justice Background screening/test.
- Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
- Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A High School Diploma AND
- Three (3) years of professional, full-time-equivalent experience in
- Education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
- Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to collect information from potential applicants from the Guard Program, as well as phone and internet inquiries and transition them into the correct category for processing.
- Provides information regarding admissions requirements and program benefits to prospective applicants and parents via phone, mail, and personal visits. Follow up with mail or phone calls, as needed.
- Assist prospective applicants with an enrollment process including advising collection of required mandatory documents.
- Assists and attends set-up of Interviews and orientations for potential applicants and their families.
- Provide support and guidance to develop effective communication and training of staff members to assist in the enrollment process.
- Ability to effectively relay information pertaining to the background of the organization and its effectiveness to the applicant and their legal guardian.
- Assist in developing and coordinating a social services outreach program with the RPM Coordinator which builds relationships with community agencies.
- Ability to work independently and within the team concept.
- Coordinate on-campus or offsite Interviews and orientations for applicants and their legal guardian through the budget office and corresponding facilities.
- Conduct mandatory core component training classes. Assist in conducting daily administrative activities and/or directing special projects or activities. Submits travel requests, schedules orientations, and interviews and oversee Academy Admissions day activities with the RPM Coordinator.
- Supports Academy events/functions as required as part of the operations tempo of the facility with notice from direct supervisor and/or Academy leadership. Due to the 24/7nature of the Academy, required events/functions may fall outside the employee's established work schedule. Special events and functions include but are not limited to class intake, family day, placement pass, and service to community events, orientation and interview events, graduation, and other such events/functions supporting the Academy mission.
