CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate’s Degree from an accredited College or University AND One (1) year of professional Administrative experience; OR
- A High School Diploma or equivalent AND Three (3) years of professional Administrative experience
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as Range Operations Specialist performing duties in a Range Operations facility which simultaneously integrates participating live-fire activities, air drops and close-air-support operations. Maintains and utilizes a working knowledge of established Army Regulations, Range Standard Operating procedures and Safety Regulations, Field Manuals (FM's) and Technical Manuals (TM's) applicable for necessary information pertaining to the firing and other uses of ammunition and explosives by troops in training.
- Assists in coordinating and scheduling activities between the Artillery, Infantry, Aviation gunnery, Special Operations Command, Civilian Agencies and fixed range/training area schedules to avoid conflicts in training. Coordinates and controls all air drops and live-fire activities on the Range/Training Complex and Restricted Use Airspaces while simultaneously controlling and integrating live, high, and low trajectory fire with aircraft operations. Interpret Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) and Weapons Danger Zone (WDZ) diagrams by taking into consideration surrounding ranges, airspace, weapons, ammunition, etc. Identify factors and elements that conflict with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and other applicable policies.
- Assists with the preparation, development, and provides SRP Military Installation Map (MIM) Updates. Assists with the maintenance and updates of existing Camp Blanding MIM per the MIM production guidance documentation found on SRP Web. Development and production of maps that meet the specific SRP installation mapping requests for range personnel, ITAM personnel, and soldiers.
- Assists with the preparation, development, and provides SRP Military Installation Map (MIM) Updates. Assists with the maintenance and updates of existing Camp Blanding MIM per the MIM production guidance documentation found on SRP Web. Development and production of maps that meet the specific SRP installation mapping requests for range personnel, ITAM personnel, and soldiers.
- Develops and produces training maps to SRP standards and based on standard military cartographic layout (i.e., SRP Style Set. Assists Fort Stewart Range personnel with the development and updates of graphic fire desk data, checks the data for proper attribution, and makes certain the data complies with RFMSS guidelines for graphic fire desk operations.
- Conducts output of existing geospatial data and associated attribute data, including query, overlay, and customized map output functions on existing GIS data. Provides map support and hard-copy map outputs using map layer combinations, scale, graphics and annotation, and number of copies specified by the requestor, to including DPOTS personnel and Range Control offices. Review existing or incoming GPS and GIS data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation.
- Conducts Range Certification Classes, as required. Ensures Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS), communications logs, and aviation logs are accurate and updated. Maintains records of all weapons fired on the assigned range(s) and number of personnel trained throughout the training complex. Assists in the planning, scheduling, managing, and evaluating all Range Control activities. Reads and interprets regulations and directives pertaining to range operation and use of training land. Contributes to the development, preparation, and revisions of Camp Blanding Range Regulations, Programs, and SOPs as required.
- Reports to supervisor all major problems or requests for deviation from prescribed safety practices. Incumbent applies knowledge of weapons systems, range safety, and training to ensure safe operations.
- Assists with all Range Operations activities within the Radio Room, activities will include:
- Coordinate the use of ranges, firing points, observation posts, training areas, and other facilities under the operational control of the RMA for compliance with safety policies, environmental concerns, and maneuver damage control.
- Ensures Safety Danger Zone (SDZ) fans are plotted IAW firing data on map boards and RFMSS.
- Operates two range control radio nets to control ranges and live fire maneuvers, monitor training areas, and provide instructions and advisory information to assist and preclude aircraft incursion into restricted air spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Army Regulations and Florida National Guard Regulations.
- Knowledge of military weapons.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to professionally communicate with Senior Military Leadership and provide the appropriate level of customer service.
- Ability to respond to inquiries by staff, military personnel, and contractors or disseminate inquiries to the appropriate office in order to support timely execution.
- Ability to create and maintain excel spreadsheets to be used for basic accounting procedures.
- Ability to supervise people.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of assignments.
- Ability to analyze and interpret budget reports.
- Ability to communicate information and understand the chain of responsibility as it applies to such information.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
