Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for overseeing the medical component of the public health programs under the supervision of the medical director for the Bradford and Union County Health Department (B & UCHD). The Physician provides medical direction and consultation to all professional health care staff involved in the provision of all public health services as requested specifically in the areas of adult and pediatric primary care, family planning, communicable diseases, chronic disease and environmental health throughout Bradford and Union Counties. Medical services are provided to clients for primary care services including preventive services to high-risk individuals related to disease, nutrition and occupation or other condition, and for programs providing for low income and other medically needy individuals. The position is responsible for conducting appropriate clinics or alternative services to meet program objectives. This includes direction of staff and activities related to medical care of acute and chronic medical conditions and referrals. The position also serves as community public health consultant to respond to local public health concerns. This position works in clinics in both Bradford and Union Counties.
Works in clinic seeing adult and pediatric primary care patients, family planning, STD, and general clinic services as directed by the Medical Director
Reviews laboratory results and assures appropriate interventions for those with abnormal results.
Attend meetings, classes/conference and in-service programs as requested or assigned to update knowledge and skills related to professional activities.
Performs other related duties as required including disaster preparedness.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases of public health significance, prevention of diseases of environmental origin, prevention of injuries, promotion of healthy behaviors, response to disasters and assistance in the recovery, and providing access to health care.
Skill in monitoring, investigating, and diagnosing health status to identify and treat health problems.
Ability to evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Florida Medical License
- Valid Driver’s License
- CPR certification
- Experience working with pediatrics and adult primary care
