CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
  3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
  4. This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
  5. As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
  6. Must be able to pass a Department of Juvenile Justice Background screening/test.
  7. Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
  8. Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within six months of employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • An Associate's Degree from an accredited College or University AND One (1) year of professional experience in Customer Service, Administration, or related field; OR
  • A High School Diploma AND Three (3) years of professional experience in Customer Service, Administration, or related field
  • Must possess or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within two months of employment
  • A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with Passenger “P” and School Bus “S” endorsements is a requirement for this position. (Applicants hired without a CDL License or required endorsements must obtain within 6 months of hire as a condition of employment. Failure to obtain the CDL with endorsements will result in termination of employment.)
  • Must be able to attend and be qualified in HAZMAT and safety courses.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior military with 1 to 3 years of experience in military supply and logistics or warehouse management.
  • Five (5) years of clerical, supplies, or storekeeping experience, Three (3) involving storekeeping activities.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.
  • Must be capable of climbing a ladder and using a hi-lift to 40 feet.
  • Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds or more.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains an inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment to be provided to other departments of the FLYCA such as maintenance shops, janitorial services, food services, office, and barracks.
  • Initiates purchase orders for stores items, to ensure inventory levels are maintained at satisfactory levels.
  • Receives and supervises the shelving of stock items.
  • Manages inventory of uniforms, equipment, and materials.
  • Responsible for all Academy facilities, vehicles, equipment, and supplies and ensures accountability in accordance with both State and United States Property & Fiscal Office (USPFO) standards as provided in the Chief National Guard Bureau Manual (CNGBM) 9350.01 for Youth ChalleNGe.
  • Provides Support of the maintenance and/or repair of the 23 buildings and 26 acres of land which comprises the Academy grounds and coordinating with CBJTC as needed.
  • Interviews salesmen and vendor representatives and evaluates new or substitute products.
  • Conducts studies to determine trends in stock use, inventory mix and price structure.
  • Establishes management accountability and control of all expendable and consumable materials.
  • Determines needs for additional stock items and adds them to the inventory.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports, as required.
  • Assists Hazardous Materials Officer and Safety Officer in control of HAZMAT and conducting safety inspections.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment required for this position.
  • Knowledge of conducting inventories.
  • Knowledge of equipment issuing procedures, to issue cadet’s uniforms and other required items.
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures, to store merchandise in proper location.
  • Knowledge of FLEET Management System.
  • Knowledge of State Quartermaster Physical Inventory Tracking System.
  • Knowledge of key control procedures and requirements.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials programs.
  • Knowledge in safety programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skills in inventory control, documentation of equipment turned back in, and document/count damage of items.
  • Skills to perform minor facility maintenance functions.
  • Ability to receive shipments and deliveries of merchandise from vendors and delivery personnel.
  • Ability to sort and count incoming merchandise in order to verify receipt of merchandise listed on the packing slip or invoice.
  • Ability to operate lawn equipment and supervise cadets with lawn maintenance.
  • Must be able to do manual labor; ability to load and unload delivery trucks.
  • Ability to issue uniforms to staff and cadets.
  • Ability to operate lawn equipment and supervise Cadets with lawn maintenance.
