ANNUAL SALARY: $60,000, full-time
LOCATION: St. Petersburg, Florida
HOURS: Full-time shift will be 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., weekdays.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED, and one year of college or vocational school education in law enforcement. Requires a valid State of Florida Driver's License and successful completion of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission's Basic Recruit Law Enforcement Course.
A current law enforcement certification in the State of Florida, or completion of Equivalency of Training, is required.
Previous law enforcement experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
This is a sworn law enforcement position. The Deputy Marshal provides security services to protect the judges, courthouse staff members, visitors, and physical court facilities. This includes perimeter security, access control, closed-circuit television surveillance, and alarm reporting systems.
The position is responsible for screening visitors, monitoring activity using video surveillance equipment, patrolling the building and grounds, managing emergencies, assisting with the training of security personnel, and performing other administrative duties as required. The incumbent is responsible for the pursuit, apprehension, and arrest of law violators within the building, grounds, and district-wide locations while on duty for the Second District Court of Appeal.
Requires continuous and close attention to detail. Carries a firearm and must meet and maintain high standards measured by the FDLE qualification course.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must not have been convicted of any felony or any misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, domestic violence, or have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. The successful applicant will be subject to a full criminal background investigation.
