We are seeking to hire a Research and Statistics Consultant who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program.  This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team based work environment.


This is a position that applies data and statistical skills to intermediately complex data analytic tasks within the Actuarial Services Unit of the Bureau of Medicaid Data Analytics, Division of Medicaid.


This position is responsible for playing a key role in health analytics for the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program (SMMC).  The incumbent will participate in developing health care cost impact models that rely on statistical and actuarial analysis.  The work will involve rate setting and trend analyses, as well as completion of special analyses, studies, or research projects.  A core component of the role will be performing actuarial analysis for the SMMC program.  Therefore, the incumbent should have actuarial analytical skills and experience in preparing charts, tables, slides and other graphic presentation of data, in order to translate date into meaningful formation for non-actuarial audiences.

  • Experience in health care data analytics or similar.
  • Experience working with large data sets. Preferably, health care data experience.
  • Expertise with Excel and other database software packages.
  • Familiar with SQL, SAS, or other statistical analysis software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other materials.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations and solve problems. 
  • Ability to collect fact-finding research.
  • Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments.



  • At least one year of experience utilizing Excel.


Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of professional experience utilizing Access, SQL, SAS, or other Database programs.

Preference will be given to candidates who have passed at least one (1) actuarial exam.

Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or related field
