The Work You Will Do:

Working under the direction of up to three Senior Attorneys, the assistant is responsible for providing administrative support as directed.  Specifically, the assistant will:

•Prepare a variety of legal documents and correspondence.

•Prepare trial exhibits and discovery responses.

•Monitor all assignments received by the attorneys.

•Set up, establish, organize, and maintain an efficient and complete filing system.

•Prompt and accurate handling of incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.

•Make travel arrangements and submit requests in travel system.

•Schedule meetings and other events as requested by attorneys.

•Schedule Court Reporters and other services as needed.

•Receive telephone calls and take messages as necessary.

•Field routine calls from the public.

•Assist other staff as needed.

•Other duties as assigned.

One year of administrative experience is required. 

Preference may be given to candidates with legal experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration that any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicable, also be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S.  No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency.  Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.
