POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a technical professional position within the Division of Information Technology, Bureau of Strategic Information Technologies.
This position is responsible for a multitude of database administration tasks necessary to ensure our databases remain operational and function efficiently.
Assist programmers and end users with analyzing, designing, creating, programming, testing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining databases as requested.
Responsible for database performance monitoring, debugging, and analysis.
Uses performance monitoring data to assist the IT programming staff with the development of efficient programming methods.
Responsible for updating and maintaining the Agency's data warehouses, such as DataMart, DM_Medicaid, and LICS_DM.
This includes resolving any load errors that occur, as well as making any additions & modifications needed to either the databases or the loads for those databases.
Monitors scheduled database jobs.
This includes researching and debugging failures and communicating with the Help Desk to ensure impacted areas are kept apprised of the problem and planned resolution.
Builds new and monitors/modifies existing SSIS packages utilized by the Agency for data movement.
This includes assisting developers with SSIS issues and debugging/updating currently executing SSIS packages to resolve any errors that arise.
Assists in granting and revoking database access to users.
Helps maintain comprehensive database user profiles.
Helps maintain a comprehensive database dictionary.
Monitors security on existing systems and reports any concerns to the supervisor.
Promotes database changes across environments by following our change control process guidelines.
Also copies the database down to lower environments to help developers create and debug applications as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle databases with ability to oversee database development, access and performance
•Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) with ability to utilize it to build and maintain complicated Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes.
•Knowledge of SQL query language and stored procedures.
•Ability to troubleshoot the Agency's databases, Windows database servers and IT's infrastructure.
•Ability to build and maintain data warehouses.
•Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
•Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
•Knowledge of database design and management.
•Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
•Ability to have good presence and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
3 years of experience with writing SQL queries.
2 years of experience creating/updating SSIS packages.
3 years of experience working with databases.
