We are seeking to hire a Financial Administrator - SES who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program.  This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team based work environment.


This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Program Finance (MPF). MPF manages and projects Florida’s $29.6 billion Medicaid Services budget, oversees financial reporting of the Agency’s contracted Medicaid health plans, calculates both institutional and non-institutional Medicaid reimbursement rates, and disburses supplemental payments to Medicaid providers.



This position is responsible for serving as the lead strategist for health plan financial monitoring in the Florida Medicaid program, including health plan financial reporting, monitoring key metrics by which to measure plan financial performance, coordinating activities performed by financial monitoring staff, developing and maintaining policy and procedures for financial monitoring of contracted health plans, acting as a liaison with other sections and Bureaus within the Division of Medicaid, and communicating the section activities and findings to health plans and Agency management.


This section leader will also be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of external auditors and arranging for staffing of on-site monitoring visits to plans, as well as leading meetings within the Agency, between the Agency and health plans and special projects.

  • Knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting
  • Knowledge of the techniques used in health plan financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel and at least intermediate Access skills
  • Ability to investigate, review, analyze and evaluate data
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques
  • Ability to determine work priorities, manage staff, and ensure proper completion of work assignments
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, verbal and written communication skills



At least 6 years' accounting/financial reporting experience; experience with health care or managed care strongly preferred

Supervisory experience preferred but not required

Other professional accounting or financial credentials are strongly preferred

Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, CPA is highly preferred
