The Work You Will Do:

 

Working under the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel, the senior attorney is responsible for applying his or her legal expertise to handle litigation, to research federal and state licensure issues, to conduct discovery, and to prepare legal pleadings and briefs.  The attorney must be able to assimilate and analyze a variety of legislation and legal concepts relating to licensure issues.  Specifically, the senior attorney will:

 

•Handle administrative litigation before the DOAH and the Agency on licensure issues on health care facilities.

•Assist with legal research in evaluating state statutes and preparation of legal opinions on questions relating to the licensure of various types of medical and long-term care facilities.

•Prepare and draft routine pleadings, briefs, agreements, and related legal documents pertaining to licensure.

•Provide legal counsel on behalf of the Agency on legal matters related to the licensure program; interprets state and federal legislation related to facilities licensure matters.

•Perform legal research concerning the interpretation of Florida Statutes and the Florida Administrative Code on health care facilities licensure matters in question.

•Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, legal writing, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings.
