Position Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the quality of health care in Florida.

We are seeking to hire a Financial Specialist who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program. 

This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team based work environment.

 

This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Program Finance (MPF).

MPF manages and projects Florida’s $34.4 billion Medicaid Services budget, oversees financial reporting of the Agency’s contracted Medicaid health plans, calculates both institutional and non-institutional Medicaid reimbursement rates, and disburses supplemental payments to Medicaid providers.

 

This position is responsible for applying advanced accounting and management skills to complex data analysis performed by the Financial Monitoring Section.

 

Tracks and analyzes expenditure patterns and utilization trends for Medicaid services reported by the contracted health plans on required financial reports.

Reviews performance against established financial metrics and prepares financial reports.

Identifies issues and concerns and communicates with health plan financial staff to investigate and resolve concerns.

Assures completeness and accuracy of work product and documentation.

 

Collaborates with other sections and Bureaus to provide financial data and summaries related to plan financial performance.

Provides projections and trend analyses for detecting and analyzing trends and deviations in programs; conducts data analysis activities related to the completion of special analyses, studies, or research projects.

Prepares charts, tables, slides, and other graphical presentations to communicate finings effectively.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the capacity to work independently in a fast paced environment.

Experience in financial analysis, accounting principles, or Medicaid program operations is preferred.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Two years of work experience processing, examining, analyzing, or interpreting accounting records or investigative financial information.

Two years of experience contributing to special studies and research initiatives through detailed data analysis.

 

Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree or a more advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline such as finance, accounting, or mathematics.

BACKGROUND SCREENING
