We are seeking to hire a Pharmaceutical Program Manager who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program.  This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team based work environment.


This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Policy. Medicaid Policy is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of Florida Medicaid program policies, including: all Medicaid federal authorities (e.g. the Florida State Plan, 1115 waivers and home and community based waivers), administrative rules, coverage policies, managed care plan contracts, bill analyses, drug utilization review boards, preferred drug lists, supplemental rebate contracts, and KidCare/Title 21. 


This position is responsible for managing the implementation of the Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program.  This program will allow the importation of drugs that meet the United States food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards related to safety, effectiveness, misbranding, and adulteration.  The program will facilitate the wholesale importation into Florida of safe and effective prescription drugs from approved Canadian suppliers that have the greatest potential for cost savings to the State.


Examples of work include:

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures related to pharmaceutical services.
  • Implements and directs a drug utilization review program which assures maximum utilization of drug expenditures.
  • Consults with institutional pharmacy and medical staffs to develop a clinical pharmacy program designed to optimize the pharmaceutical component in each patient's overall medical treatment program.
  • Monitors standards of pharmaceutical practice in the department.
  • Assists and advises appropriate administrative officers on the recruitment of pharmaceutical professionals.
  • Serves as a departmental legislative liaison in matters related to pharmaceutical services, including budget preparation and personnel policy formulation.
  • Monitors standards of pharmaceutical practice within the department.
  • Performs related work as required.

  • Licensure as a Pharmacist in accordance with Florida Statute 465 and two years of professional experience in the practice of pharmacy.


A master's degree from an accredited college or university in pharmacy can substitute for one year of the required experience.

A Pharm.D. from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.

A doctorate from an accredited college or university in pharmacy can substitute for the required experience.



  • Licensure as a Pharmacist in accordance with Florida Statute 465 and two years of professional experience in the practice of pharmacy.
