The Agency for Health Care Administration is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity. The Agency is responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives. Under the direction of Secretary Shevaun Harris, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation. Current Agency initiatives include implementing Florida’s groundbreaking Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program, overhauling Florida’s healthcare technological ecosystem, and increasing insight in the cost of health care services.

THE ROLE – DASHBOARD DEVELOPER
The Agency for Health Care Administration is seeking a data‑driven professional with intermediate analytics skills to support the Agency’s growing need for high‑quality dashboards. The primary focus of this role is to design, build and maintain both public and internal dashboards that provide clean, actionable insights. They will work with a variety of subject matter experts to best frame and present data related to healthcare, program administration, and more, so the ability to learn about new data sets is more important than any specific expertise. They will have the opportunity to develop their skills from both formal trainings and from working alongside other data visualization specialists.
While Tableau is at the core of our visualization environment, we value candidates with a broad range of data skills and interests, including:
- Exploratory data analysis and statistical concepts
- Data visualization using Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, or ArcGIS
- Working with structured and unstructured datasets
- Statistical data tools such as R or Python
- Graphic design and visual best practices
- Understanding of data quality, integrity, and privacy standards (including HIPAA)
- Ability to work with structured and unstructured data.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone with experience and aptitude in data analysis and visualization. Numbers should mean something to you, and you should be able to tell stories from trends you identify in novel data sets. You should be comfortable working on simple projects on your own, and looking to learn from collaboration on complex tasks.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Performs exploratory data analysis to identify key features of novel data sets
- Designs, maintains, and enhances Tableau dashboards and data sources
- Troubleshoots data availability and data quality issues
- Recommends reporting improvements and helps implement best practices
- Participates in dashboard reviews and governance
- Researches and trains to stay current on new data visualization technologies, techniques and tools
- Maintains documentation on dashboards and unit processes

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and other common data schemas.
- Knowledge of statistical principles and HIPAA privacy standards.
- Skill in using BI tools like Tableau Desktop to develop and maintain Dashboards
- Skill in analytic problem solving and identifying trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
- Skill in performing exploratory data analysis on a dataset to understand its contents.
- Ability to work with structured and unstructured data.
- Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a data team
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience developing dashboards in Tableau
A college degree can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience..
