The Work You Will Do:
This position assists in the operation and maintenance of the Department’s Information Security Program and operational security processes. This role helps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to reduce, eliminate, or recover from identified threats and risks to the Department’s data and information resources. This position performs technical and non-technical duties relative to the maintenance of organizational information security.

Where You Will Work:
This position will allow for up to100% percent remote working or allow working onsite in one of the Tallahassee offices, if preferred. Florida residents will be given preference.

Pay:

Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Monitors and investigates threats to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Department-owned information.
- Monitors and queries Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and other threat management systems for threats to the enterprise environment and DEO information wherever it may be processed or stored.
- Maintains appropriate configurations of security tools used for monitoring and threat management.
- Conducts and/or consults on threat identification and mitigation.
- Performs key tasks associated with response to, and investigation of, alerts and security incidents.
Additionally, this position may be required to:
- Work with the Information Security Team, IT teams, business unit staff, and other parties necessary to accomplish the information security goals of the organization.
- Assist in automating security-related functions and activities, as needed.
- Participate in multiple operational security functions, including, but not limited to:
- Anti-malware and Endpoint Security
- Vulnerability Management
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Enterprise Encryption
- Network security
- Cloud security
- Policy development
- Audit and compliance
- Participate in technical response operations to Information Security events requiring containment, investigation, remediation, and/or analysis.
- Assist in the development and administration of awareness training tools, materials, and processes.
- Document and update internal procedures.
- Share knowledge and participate in cross-training activities to improve team functionality.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.

- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and staff of all levels.
- Working knowledge in any of the following:
- Vulnerability management processes and applications; ability to read and prepare reports.
- Common networking protocols, architectures, and concepts.
- Principles, practices, and techniques of securing computer systems, end users, and data.
- Network-based web filtering tools.
- Directory services, such as Microsoft Active Directory.
- System Configuration Management Tools, such as Microsoft SCCM.
- SIEM/log management tools, such as Splunk.
- IT Service Management tools, such as ServiceNow.
- Endpoint Security tools, such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Programming and/or scripting languages, such as C/C++, Java, Python, Perl, JavaScript, Powershell, etc. a plus.
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
- Must be available for on-call and overtime as required.
- Professional experience in information security, information technology, or computer programming, with an emphasis on operational security, incident response, threat management, and/or scripting and automation.
Preferred:
- Direct experience in SIEM/Log tools (e.g., Splunk, MS Sentinel), Next-Gen Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto), Microsoft Security Stack (e.g., Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity), Asset Discovery Tools (e.g., Armis, Qualys), and/or Web Application Security.
- Two plus (2+) years of professional experience in information security or a closely related field.
