The Work You Will Do:

This position reports to the Chief of IT Operations and is responsible for management and supervision of the three (3) service areas within the Division of Information Technology Services, IT Operations Section: Network Support, Telephone and Voice Services Support, and Electronic Messaging Services Support.

 

This position manages Enterprise Network Infrastructure Services and affiliated components for FloridaCommerce. Responsible for Network Design, Network Security, Network Systems Consultation, Network Systems Implementations, Wireless Network Management, Network Systems Monitoring, AV Support, and CSA-B Management. Additionally, this position manages voice/data communication support statewide for the regional field offices in Orlando, Jacksonville, and Ft. Lauderdale.

Pay

  • $85,000 – $95,000 Annually           

        

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise staff of the three (3) service areas within the Division of Information Technology Services, IT Operations Section:  Network and Security Services Support, Telephone and Voice Services Support, and Electronic Messaging Services Support.

 

“Supervisory employees” are those who spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and who have the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees serving as supervisors, administrators, and directors in accordance with 110.205(20(w), Florida Statutes.

 

Infrastructure Systems Management:

  • Ensure, through adequate planning, management, and execution that all network equipment, appliances, and telephony systems are kept up-to-date with respect to:
    • Network infrastructure – latest design and implementation.
    • Software - manufacturer’s latest firmware and software patches.
    • Virus Protection – latest engines and definitions.
  • Provide management with dashboard style reporting for availability, utilization, capacity, and other information as related to our network, servers, and customer support center.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance agreements are current and accurately reflect inventory coverage (within fiscal constraints).
  • Ensure backup and recovery procedures are in place and allow for timely recovery in the event of failure or disaster.
  • Provide consultation to FloridaCommerce management and partners with respect to technology updates, technology refresh, and comparisons/options as required.
  • Assist in establishing IT long range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives.
  • Provide consultation and recommendation on IT disaster recovery planning, as required.
  • Manages and monitors day-to-day activities, performance and productivity of the Voice and Data Network Infrastructure.
  • Support and maintain wireless infrastructure for mobile technologies.
  • Possess awareness and advice on emerging technologies within the Technical and Customer practice arena.
  • Recommend changes to management, as necessary, to improve overall customer service.
  • Represent and be an ambassador for our office during appropriate meetings and events.
  • Facilitates resolution of technical issues on all products and areas supported by Information Technology Services.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Ensure equipment and processes under your purview comply with federal, state, and best practices as dictated by our Information Security Manager (ISM).
  • Provide for monitoring and reporting of all security alerts including appropriate action to be taken during an incident.
  • Work collaboratively with the Department’s ISM to identify and mitigate security risks and issues.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are complete and documented for hardware and software installation and use.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide adequate security for operating systems, software, and data.

 

Personnel Management:

  • Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress, and assessing performance.
  • Ensure each associate under your purview has adequate performance expectations completed and agreed to, following Human Resource guidelines and timeframes.
  • Ensure each associate’s performance is monitored on an on-going basis and their evaluation is completed following Human Resource guidelines and timeframes.
  • Ensure that each associate develops and follows (within budget constraints) an acceptable education plan that will help them to remain a valuable asset to the Department. The plan should be consistent with the technology needs of your unit and in-line with the technology plan of the Department.
  • Ensure the work area is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Project management Skills
  • Ability to plan, manage, organize, and coordinate multiple work assignments and activities are required.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and PowerShell/scripting.
  • Knowledge of Azure platform and Azure network services.
  • Knowledge in administration of Cisco, Palo Alto, and associated network infrastructure components.
  • Ability to architect, support, and scope Network and VOIP infrastructure solutions.
  • Knowledge of administration of PKI certificates.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of technology trends and developments in the areas of network and VOIP infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of the principles of privileged and production access.
  • Ability to communicate with users in a courteous, professional manner, and evaluate and resolve user problems
  • Ability to develop and implement network infrastructure support standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently with supervision as needed.
  • Ability to articulate technical and business issues and solutions effectively to business or technical staff across organizational layers.
  • Skilled in production support with ITSM solutions including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Release Management, and Configuration Management.
  • Knowledge and skilled with formal security and control frameworks such as ISO, ITIL, and NIST, that have applicability to the discipline.
  • Knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office, and Office 365.
  • Knowledge of Cisco VPN, MS SharePoint, SCCM, and Microsoft Defender.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.  

 

Preferred:

  • Cisco networking, telephony, and video conferencing technologies.
  • Integrated voice response.
  • Enterprise deployment experience.
  • Network system architect and design experience.
  • Live in Tallahassee vicinity.
