The Work You Will Do:
The Application Systems Programmer III is a member of the Reemployment Assistance Application Development team of the Division of Information Technology located in Tallahassee, Florida. This position is responsible for the design, coding, testing, and deployment of application development enhancements, maintenance, modifications, and/or fixes.
You will work independently or with others and are responsible for identifying and analyzing complex application problems; developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to resolve problems. You will be required to plan, communicate, estimate work effort, task out to create assignments, and work cooperatively with others.

Pay:
- $60,000 - $75,000
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, coding, testing, and deployment of application development enhancements, maintenance, modifications, and/or fixes.
- Works to ensure coding changes conform to Department hardware, software, development, and architecture standards, including:
- Writing efficient and effective code that meets requirements and design constraints.
- Following the standards and guidelines of the development team.
- Collaborating with the team and development lead to complete projects/tasks and share knowledge.
- Assists in maintaining, troubleshooting, and patching systems.
- Provides data to business users in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
- Documents design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information.
- Creates, updates, and reviews documentation as required based on the development methodology utilized.
- Remains up to date on current technologies and best practices in software development.
- Performs security analyses and risk assessments as needed.
- Attends training as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams

- Understanding of N-Tier Architecture
- Working knowledge of .Net 4.0 or later
- Knowledgeable in Application Development Methodologies, including Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, and Iterative

Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
- At least 5 years of experience with software development practices
- At least 3 years of experience with relational databases
- At least 1 years’ experience as a team member on a team of 5+ developers
- May be subject to on-call during nights, holidays, and/or weekends
- Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
