Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible position requiring extensive knowledge of the Reemployment Assistance Law and Department procedures.  The associate in this position is responsible for several complex programmatic functions performed within reemployment assistance relating to claimant eligibility and employer chargeability that have statewide applications as well as assess the call and/or back-office work item of the customer service associates.  The associate in this position may be responsible for processing Florida liable claims, providing claimant instructions and taking necessary actions relative to claims activities as a result of working with the Reemployment Assistance Program.  Professional work requiring not only extensive knowledge of the Reemployment Assistance Law, regulations, policies and procedures, but also the ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, and work cooperatively with others.

 

Handles claims issues, processes additional claims, ensures customers' weeks are properly paid, issues determinations, and processes rejected/unpaid weeks.  Reviews reports to detect incomplete claims as well as errors and corrections on claims.  Provides consultation to ensure associates receive appropriate programmatic and technical training in correcting the errors commensurate with their job responsibilities and monitors the development of associates.  Will remove previous disqualifications and end indefinite ineligibilities that would potentially prevent payment of current claims.  Will review the secondary alien verification to assess the claimants’ eligibility for reemployment assistance.

 

Assists in coordinating unit activities relating to specialized work assignments and other related work as required including the preparation of reports, project analysis and correspondence to assist the supervisor.  Prioritizes work and takes responsibility of assignments to ensure accuracy, efficiency and completion of work by deadlines.  Performs random reviews and evaluates sub-unit work to determine if all work is following established standards.  Participates in the interdisciplinary meetings to calibrate, review results and develop optimum resolutions.  Assists in training associates, developing training materials and procedures, and may participate in cost quality and work planning studies.  Associate will provide testing assistance for process improvements of the various intake methods.  May be technical assistant to the unit and assist supervisor. 

 

Interviews applicants by telephone or reviews Internet claims applications to determine eligibility for reemployment assistance claims.  Screens applicants by gathering key information from a database to assess type and location of employment and applies various Florida, federal and other states' laws rules and regulations in making a decision on the appropriate type of reemployment assistance claim to file.  Gathers information from applicants and records demographics, employment history relative to the claims process, assigns appropriate occupational classification codes and enters the information into a computer database.  Checks wages reported by the employers to ensure that monetary entitlement is determined accurately.  Responds to a large volume of claimant and employer inquiries relating to eligibility for reemployment assistance and employer chargeability.  These inquiries and responses may be in the form of written correspondence or telephone calls.

 

Works with management as needed to resolve issues relating to claims activities and problem resolution.  Identifies and analyzes problem areas and recommends any changes needed to improve and streamline existing procedures.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

 

Pay:

$35,317.32 annually
