Your Specific Responsibilities:

“Supervisory employees” are those who spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and who have the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees serving as supervisors, administrators, and directors in accordance with 110.205(20(w), Florida Statutes.

 

Application Support Management

  • Provide direction for system engineering, system administration, database administration, software configuration management, application administration, technical architecture, cloud systems, and datacenter management.
  • Direct the maintenance and advancement of assigned business program’s architectural stack including the application framework, middleware, databases, operating systems, servers, storage, and networking.
  • Remain up to date on current technologies, industry trends, methodologies and best practices.
  • Guide and support application support efforts and the troubleshooting of system incidents.
  • Work with Vendor Management on specific relationships with private vendors, other state, and federal entities to ensure proper cost controls and vendor performance.
  • Foster and develop appropriate business relationship management for supported programs.
  • Report team progress through appropriate status reporting protocols and mechanisms.
  • Perform quality assurance of assigned team member work products.
  • Promote, deliver, and assist in the development of strategic plans at all levels.
  • Project manage efforts as assigned using defined project management methodologies.
  • Analyze and balance multiple competing objectives, scopes, issues and organizational changes.
  • Works to mitigate security risks and issues as defined in Information Security policies.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working experience in a defined information technology role.
  • Knowledge of supervisory, personnel management duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of legislative budgeting and grants management processes.
  • Ability to present and communicate vision and plans to senior and executive leadership (i.e. state Bureau Chiefs and higher) and large groups of 50 or more people at once.
  • Knowledge and ability to use conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ability to develop policies, processes, procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of various application, software development processes, models, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating environment support.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft database environment support.
  • Knowledge of application deployment and release management.
  • Experience in database administration and support.
  • Ability to manage projects that cross various teams.
  • Knowledge of basic project management disciplines and concepts.
  • Knowledge of IT Governance structures.
  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts
  • Knowledge of various DevOps models and practices.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to explain N-Tier architecture, the application stack and technical infrastructure of supporting systems.
  • Ability to display methodical problem solving and decision-making practices.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to explain various IT Service Management policies, processes, and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.  

 

Preferred:

Preference will be given to applicants with cloud, server administration, and leadership experience.

 

Pay:

$85,000 – $95,000 Annually

The Work You Will Do:

Reporting with FloridaCommerce Division of Information Technology, this position serves in a supervisory position for application support team members with a focus on database and system operations; application production support; and data and information management. This position supports ongoing operations for various application and system support projects from conception, initiation, requirements, design, development and testing, deployment, and support.
