Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for processing Multiple Worksite Reports (MWR) on a continuous flow basis, assigning reporting unit numbers and ensuring accurate data entry on a flow basis; also responsible for updating address records in the database.

This position reviews a portion of the Annual Refiling Survey with address changes and updates the database with the necessary county code to meet program deadlines.

Assign county codes to new employers on unclassified accounts to contribute to program contract deliverables.

Sort, scan and process incoming mail and returns

File quarterly Multiple Worksite Reports (MWR) while maintaining retention schedules by purging obsolete data.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as to be a contributing effective team member
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

 

Pay:

$15.00 per hour.

The Work You Will Do:        

The OPS Staff Assistant is a member of the Labor Market Statistics team of the Division of Workforce Services.

This position is critical to meeting contract deliverables with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and provides support to the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Program.

This position involves processing multiple worksite reports to include posting and data entry, updating the database with employer addresses, assigning county to new employers in the state, opening and sorting daily mail correspondence, filing and administrative support for special assignments and projects to meet contract deliverable deadlines.

No leadership responsibilities.

 

The Difference You Will Make:

This position is part of a team that is responsible for the construction of a portion of the database which is the federal Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) Report by utilizing the employment and wage data from the universe of businesses covered by state and federal unemployment compensation laws.  This database contains micro data which are summed by North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes within counties.  This position will support the QCEW team.
