The goal of the Division of Blind Services (DBS) is to help blind and visually impaired Floridians achieve their goals and live productive and independent lives. The Division of Blind Services Fiscal Office is responsible for DBS’ internal financial and accounting operations, which include contractual payments, accounts payable, revenue and client services.

Job Description

 

This position is a professional accounting position working in the Division of Blind Services (DBS) Fiscal Office within the Bureau of the Comptroller at the Department of Education (DOE). The incumbent must be able to process payments/reimbursements correctly/timely. Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • Responsible for mailing all division state warrants. Match warrants with invoicing, verify information is correct and put in envelopes for mailing on a daily basis.
  • Back up for printing vouchers, log in logbook and distribute to co-workers daily.
  • Responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail and make sure it is delivered to the appropriate person and has the correct date stamp on a daily basis.
  • Process purchase requisitions in MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP) and reconcile MFMP to FLAIR on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain the 12-month Outstanding Warrant List, contact vendors, clients, as well as DBS counselor to determine the status of the warrant. Request for cancellation or duplicate as needed.
  • Verify and approve all other warrant cancellations. Request copies of endorsed warrants as needed.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for auditing monthly Grants & Donations and Daytona Rehabilitation Center bank statements.

LEAVE INFORMATION: (CS)

    • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
    • Sick Leave -. Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
