MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance or business administration; or

 

Two (2) years of professional or nonprofessional accounting experience.

JOB DUTIES:

 

This position performs independent and highly responsible accounting, administrative, and analytical financial duties including the processing of revenue and other financial obligations for payment pursuant to generally accepted accounting principles, FDACS and Department of Financial Services policies and procedures.  This position is also responsible for regularly generating and examining FLAIR revenue and expenditures reports for accuracy and resolving errors with FDACS staff as appropriate.

 

Prepares production reports for the revenue area and assists in the preparation of accounts payable reports.  Develops and implements directives to ensure compliance with policy and procedures.  Analyzes and prepares financial reports.  Processes and maintains detailed records of refunds.  This includes receiving and maintaining accurate records of outstanding refunds and computer updating. Responsible for daily monitoring of revenue collections and notification of management of any problems that may arise, including delinquent amounts. Research transaction errors and initiates appropriate accounting entries for correction.

 

Responsible for the revenue process within the Division of Licensing  and is accountable for all monies until the revenue is forwarded for depositing.  Validates and verifies that totals validated and entered into the database were accurately posted to the correct key/object codes and corrects any discrepancies.  Maintains a continual audit of the validation process. Provides assistance to other divisional staff by researching receipt of fees, paid invoices and questions concerning returned checks.  Provides assistance to their divisional staff by researching computerized financial records and providing requested information.

 

Assist for division’s debit memo process whereby rejected payment instruments, including checks, money orders and credit/debit cards are identified by the Bureau of Finance and Accounting to the division via debit memos and detailed spreadsheets.  This position tracks these rejected payments, communicates accordingly to applicants and licensees, the amounts due via written correspondence and reflects this information in spreadsheets and internal information systems. 

 

Assist/serves as back-up for the revenue deposit process including nine (9) regional offices within the division and is accountable for the accurate documentation of all monies forwarded for deposit. Adds and verifies that all checks validated and entered into the Reflections database are accurately posted and corrects discrepancies as needed.  Submission of the deposit is made electronically via the state contracted banking institution’s check scanning and electronic deposit information system application.  Submits deposit information to the Bureau of Finance and Accounting for entry into the FLAIR accounting system.

 

Performs other work-related duties as required. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in other Fiscal areas.
