DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an independent professional accounting position. The responsibilities and duties of this position involves the application of accounting techniques to a variety of fiscal transactions. This position is an integral part of an organizational unit with a broad scope of responsibilities. As such, the job duties require skills and abilities to maintain a wide variety of complex accounting and financial records. This position contributes to the independence of Florida’s elders by ensuring that the Aging Network Providers are paid timely.
- Audit vendor invoices, and process for payment.
- Input expenditure and related encumbrance transactions into the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) System and MyFlorida Marketplace (MFMP).
- Verify voucher summary reports and prepare vouchers for submission.
- Record fiscal information within internal system Automated Contract Management System (ACMS).
- Research, code and make appropriate FLAIR transactions for all departmental deposits and transmit to Treasurer’s office within three days from bank date.
- Maintain deposit files with supporting documentation.
- Research debit memos received from Treasurer’s office, input into FLAIR, and forward to appropriate personnel for collection.
- Reconcile the department’s Revolving Fund balances with cash in bank monthly.
- Research data for external customers (vendors or auditors) and internal customers (employees) as requested.
- Prepare requests for duplicate or cancelled warrants and input appropriate FLAIR entries.
- Assist in maintaining Agency accounting files such as: voucher files and supporting documentation, cancelled warrants etc.
- Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of FLAIR transactions, Department of Financial Services’ voucher auditing rules, state expenditure guidelines and Florida Statute 215.422.
- Ability to record and verify information with a high degree of accuracy, meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Systems, e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc..
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data, understand and apply appropriate rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program.
- Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply basic accounting and auditing principles and procedures.

Preference will be given to the Department of Elder Affairs employees.
