Job Description
This position involves complex professional accounting work including but not limited to using the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) System and other systems to perform various fiscal functions in the State Courts System. Position requires a working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing disbursement of state funds and other state courts funds, understanding of departmental process and procedures including types of transactions, transaction requirements and use, and content and arrangement of reports. Knowledgeable a basic accounting principles and Section 215.422 Florida Statutes requirements.

 

Examples of Work Performed

 Audit and process invoice payments for assigned area such as miscellaneous invoices encumbered and unencumbered contract invoices, but not limited to a specific type. Invoices are audited and reviewed for prompt payment compliance, amounts, vendor identification numbers, accounting codes, authorizations, policies, and procedures. Correct and/or return invoices for discrepancies.

 

Disbursements of invoices are entered in FLAIR. Recorded transactions are reviewed for accuracy of entry.

 

Reconcile contractual invoice payments on a monthly basis. Reconciliation is done to verify accuracy of payment information on the Transaction History and FACTS system. Perform correction entries to rectify discrepancies.

 

 Answer questions, research invoice status inquires, and solves problems relating to various expenditures receive via email or telephone in a professional manner.

 

 Perform corrections for errors or changes made on disbursement entries. Process interest penalty payments. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Training Guidelines

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, computer operations, or a closely related field.

 

Experience Refers to the amount of related work experience that is recommended for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the required tasks. 

 

Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience.

 

Two years of related experience.

•    Knowledge of FLAIR.
•    Knowledge of Reference Guide for State Expenditures.
•    Knowledge of State Courts Purchasing Directives and general office policies.
•    Ability to use various software applications, that is, Word and Excel.
•    Ability to research and resolve problems.
•    Ability to work independently.
•    Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
•    Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
•    Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively verbal and written.
