Overview:
The newly created Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) is a five-member commission appointed by the Governor. The FGCC is charged with investigating and enforcing Florida pari-mutuel and gaming statutes and rules.
The FGCC is searching for an Accountant III to perform a wide variety of accounting functions in the Accounting Section. This position is responsible for assisting with the processing disbursements through Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR) or MyFloridaMarketplace (MFMP).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of FLAIR disbursement entry experience.
- One (1) year of MFMP disbursement experience.
Two years of professional or nonprofessional accounting or bookkeeping experience or College education from an accredited institution can substitute for each year of required work experience, which includes two courses in accounting, business, or finance or a combination of the above work experience and college education.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This is a dynamic position that will be responsible for assisting with various FGCC’s fiscal functions. This position reports to the Chief of Financial Services and the duties also include, but are not limited to, the following:
DISBURSEMENTS:
- Assists with processing both encumbered and unencumbered disbursements in the Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR) and/or MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP) in accordance with Florida Statute 215.422, Reference Guide for State Expenditures, Attorney General Opinions, Florida Administrative Code, Chief Financial Officer Memoranda, and processing procedures of the Bureau of Auditing.
- Assists vendors and employees with invoice payment issues.
- Prepare vouchers for submission to Bureau of Auditing at DFS.
MAINTAINING CHECK LOG:
- Logs all incoming checks for the Bureau of Accounting.
- Ensures checks are properly endorsed.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Routes incoming telephone calls for the Accounting Office.
- Assists with setup of Certified Forward Encumbrances/Payables.
- Scans documents for record retention.
- Maintains detailed desktop procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of FLAIR expenditures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data/information and apply appropriate guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing across a broad audience spectrum.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to provide prompt, reliable, accurate and courteous customer service.
