Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • Two (2) or more years of customer service dealing with external/internal customers.
  • Must be proficient using Excel to create and maintain complex spreadsheets and Microsoft Office applications (Word and Outlook).

 

Additional Preferences:

  • Two (2) or more years of professional or State of Florida accounting experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience maintaining and preparing accounting and financial reports.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in analyzing and resolving exception items, discrepancy items, and/or correcting items in an accounting and/or banking environment.
  • Two (2) or more years reconciliation experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with Flair.
  • Two (2) or more years of banking experience.

 

This advertisement will be used to fill two Accountant III positions within the Bureau of Funds Management.

 

Interview will consist of: Oral interview questions and work samples. Questions and work samples will be answered using Microsoft Word and Excel

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

We anticipate the starting annual salary for this position to be in the range of $40,000.00 - $42,000.00.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the methods of data collection. Knowledge of banking practices. Knowledge of banking offsets and adjustments. Knowledge of and ability to use FLAIR. Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports. Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records. Ability to analyze and interpret banking and/or accounting data. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulation policies and procedures relating to an accounting system. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to independently analyze and use problem-solving techniques. Ability to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship in a team structure.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Resolve discrepancies associated with agency deposits in the Treasury Concentration Account.  This position requires specialized expertise in researching and resolving banking related activities.
  2. Processes and balances wires received into the Treasury.
  3. Perform audit and process returned checks originally deposited into the Treasury Concentration Account within three (3) days of the bank date in PALM.
  4. Assist other Accountant III position as a backup for the various duties.
  5. Perform other tasks as directed within the Cash Management Section.
