To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum requirement(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. (2) Fiscal experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education. (3) Professional or non-professional accounting experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education. (4) Any combination of this experience and college education at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education. (5) Completion of a 720 hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in the area of accounting can substitute for one year of the required experience.

DUTIES: Manage all grant management and financial report functions for assigned Grants.

  • Review expenditures on assigned grants against the grant’s budget to determine eligibility.
  • Prepare monthly grant claims.
  • Maintain grant files/data according to established protocol.
  • Prepare all necessary reports relating to the grants.
  • Research, calculate, and record all necessary FLAIR entries.
  • Reconcile claims filed to FLAIR expenditures and revenue.
  • Reconcile FLAIR cash.
  • Obtain all proper approvals for grant claims.
  • Record year-end intradepartmental payables and receivables on all grants.
  • Provide assistance to program members and project directors in monitoring grant budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with the U.S. (OMB) circular A-87 and other applicable grantor guides.


  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to use computer software skills, including BEGINNER skills in database/spreadsheet software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to research and find errors in reconciliation of expenditures and cash reports.
  • Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR).
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.


Preference may be given to current FDLE members that have satisfactorily completed their probationary period or served at least one year in their current positions.  Preference may be given to applicants in the State Personnel System who have satisfactorily completed their probationary period or served at least one year in their current position.
