Duties and Responsibilities
The Accountant IV is responsible for following the Department’s Bureau of Accounting procedures for processing a refund or placing an ISF on a customer.  The incumbent will independently audit and process Debit Memos, reconcile the Daily Reconciliation Reports, process the Department of Transportation’s monthly citation reimbursements, Security Deposits refunds, and Dealer License Worthless Checks and assist with the United Collection Bureau payments. This position will also assist and provide customer service to other sections on an as needed basis to remove stops requested by the Tax Collector for credit card chargebacks.  The incumbent will utilize FRVIS, Prompt Payment Application and the Cashier Receipt System to collect payment and clear worthless checks written to the department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•    Knowledge of Florida accounting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard office equipment
•    Skilled in data entry, recordkeeping, and managing electronic information systems (FRVIS, ORION)
•    Experienced in auditing, data analysis, and compliance review
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external interactions
•    Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
•    Accurate in handling payments and maintaining confidentiality
•    Solid understanding of basic math and financial processes

Preferred Qualifications
•    At least three years of professional work experience in customer service
•    At least two years of professional work experience in accounting

General Information
•    The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
•    Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be               compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
•    FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s.               110.113 Florida Statutes.
