ADVERTISING TITLE: Accountant IV
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Financial Services.
As a member of the financial services team, our mission is to manage and oversee the financial resources of the Florida Department of Corrections efficiently and responsibly. We are committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and fiscal integrity in all financial operations to support the department's goals and objectives.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Keep Financial Records Spotless: Audit and maintain property financial records to ensure they are always current, complete, and accurate. Make sure all significant data is recorded and fairly stated in the accounting records.
- Manage Property Documentation: Prepare and support inventory adjustments, assign and issue property numbers, maintain custodian information files, and input data for required FLAIR entries. Your attention to detail will keep everything running smoothly.
- Daily Reviews and Updates: Review the Encumbrance report daily to ensure purchase requisitions are correctly coded before payment. Maintain the Property Pending and Property Tag logs, making necessary adjustments and issuing property tags as needed.
- Support and Inventory: Assist the Professional Accountant Specialist with property inventories for all Central Office bureaus/offices and the Florida Commission on Offender Review. Address questions and issues from the Property Mailbox daily, process Acquisition Forms, and update logs.
- Ensure Compliance and Accuracy: Ensure all FLAIR entries are accurate, and property records are audit ready. Help respond to audit reports, correct deficiencies, and assist with property record cleanup in preparation for the transition to Florida PALM. Handle Property Delegate Titling File forms and update FLAIR as changes occur. Assist with other projects as directed by your supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) or more years of experience in administrative work, accounting, or auditing. Postsecondary education can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience utilizing FLAIR for accounts payable, accounts receivable or property.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
