WORKING TITLE: ACCOUNTANT IV
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Finance and Accounting.
The mission of the Bureau of Finance and Accounting in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the responsible management and stewardship of the Department's financial resources.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Conduct monthly post audits on a sample of vendor payments to include MFMP, Works, STMS, Contracts, and FLAIR
- invoices.
- Serves as backup to the STMS Administrator.
- Assists with PALM tasks as needed.
- Responds to all inquiries accurately and timely.
- Assists with agency designated projects as directed by supervisors.
- Completes all agency required trainings.
- Performs other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of FLAIR, BARS, and MFMP
- Knowledge of DC rules, policies, and procedures
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to use automated accounting systems, personal computers, and general office equipment

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must possess three (3) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance.
- Postsecondary education can substitute up to two (2) years of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to applicants with accounts payable/disbursement experience and MFMP experience.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
