Requirements:

Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.

Work at the FWC is cross-functional, meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The Commission expects employees to function across FWC's organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six (6) years of experience in accounting or financial management, two (2) years of which must have been in reconciling revenue or expenditures
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in reconciling revenue or expenditures can substitute for the required experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for monitoring and reconciling revenue, disbursements, expenditures, and other financial related activity ensuring accuracy and compliance in addition to the following:

 

Data Entry

  • Prepare and record Journal transfers in Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR).
  • Coordinate with Financial Reporting Staff as needed to verify all Journal Transfer entries are recorded with the data needed for Financial Reporting.
  • Research and make any needed corrections/adjustments in FLAIR to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and record revenue transactions in FLAIR.
  • Maintaining and ensuring documentation for all transactions is uploaded to Laserfiche document management system.

 

Reconciliations

  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations for Revenue transactions.
  • Reconcile FLAIR departmental transactions to Comptroller’s transactions.
  • Research and verify adjustments using the agency’s Revenue Management System (RMS) and FLAIR.

 

Year End

  • Provide information to Financial Reporting for estimated revenues.
  • Reconcile FLAIR departmental transactions to Comptroller’s transactions.
  • Record Accounts Receivables for any outstanding invoices for Grants and Collections.

 

Report Preparation

  • Run and/or create reports in the Report Distribution System (RDS), FLAIR, PALM, and WebFocus.
  • Update Agency Transaction History spreadsheets and associated detailed reports using reports generated from RDS and WebFocus.
  • Run daily FLAIR reports and Treasury receipts and upload to the Revenue and Grants shared drive.
  • Prepare reports to respond to requests from internal customers and other State agencies when requested.
  • Reconcile and provide documentation for payment to the Department of Revenue or for Sales and Use Tax.

  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of financial data collection and report preparation.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
