Job Description:


This position is responsible for data analytics, review, research, and resolution of errors in all areas of accounting data and review of budget trend reports ensuring data integrity in accounting data and reports. It provides research assistance as needed, analyzes, reviews, and audits trend data reports as required by the Director. Prepares various reports as needed and works on special projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, review, research and resolve errors in accounting data using routine reports.
  • Monitor expenditures and budget with no OCAs detail, submit corrective action requests as needed, and work on resolving the root causes of the errors.
  • Identify, analyze, and work with the budget managers budget problems and develop recommended solutions through comprehensive review of the data. Advise customers of problems identified during analysis.
  • Conduct audits associated to the findings within the expenditure and budget trend reports.
  • Prepare a monthly error analysis report for management.
  • Review weekly reports, work with budget managers, accounting staff and other offices to solve any problems and ensure data is accurately reported.
  • Provide training on the corrections process to the team or other accounting areas as requested.
  • Works on Inter-agency transfers analysis.
  • Assist with any year-end closing related tasks.
  • Assist with reporting, research, and other special projects.

  • Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports,                                                                                                          documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently employed with the Department of Children and Families
  • Must possess any combination of the following:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or business and two (2) years of professional accounting experience with the State of Florida; OR
  • Four (4) years of professional accounting experience with the State of Florida; OR
  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or possession of a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A) certification and one (1) year of professional accounting experience
  • Special Note:  professional or non-professional accounting experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required bachelor’s degree; or any combination of this experience and up to 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college education including two courses in accounting can substitute on a year-for year basis for the required bachelor’s degree.  If submitting a college degree, official transcripts may be required.
