POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Financial Manager I, this position provides daily assistance to management and members for all agency payroll services. This position handles all aspects of payment types like biweekly payroll, supplemental payroll, CJIP payroll, uniform allowance, and leave payouts.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Performing payroll audits and reconciliations, monitor leave without pay, and ensure salary overpayments are collected;
- Reviewing all retroactive payments to verify accuracy;
- Processing on-demand payments and warrant cancellations;
- Preparing wage certifications for worker’s compensation, unemployment and retirement benefit;
- Monitoring and notifying supervisors when OPS member timesheets have not been approved by agency deadline;
- Maintaining People First charge objects in coordination with Grants section and HR;
- Performing all payroll related accounting functions;
- Reconciling accounting records between the Bureau of State Payrolls and departmental FLAIR;
- Posting payroll transactions into FLAIR; and
- Auditing and vouchering payments for payroll invoices including insurance matching, retirement variances, unemployment compensation, temporary total disability, and other invoices.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data;
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program;
- Ability to plan and organize work assignments;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
- Ability to work independently; and
- Ability to use computer software skills, including BEGINNER skills in database/spreadsheet software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word.

BASE SALARY:

NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
