SPECIAL NOTES:

Preferences:

  • Administrative or legal assistant experience.
  • Experience providing administrative support to one or more persons/attorneys.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of case management platforms.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology.

 

This position is located in Tallahassee.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

Anticipated hiring salary range is $48,000.00 to $65,000.00 annually, depending upon work related experience.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of public records law. Ability to be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain the confidentiality of protected information.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Knowledge of IT systems used to search emails and documents sought. Knowledge of or aptitude to learn public records software, such as JustFOIA.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Manage the intake and fulfillment of public records requests across multiple divisions within the agency.  Research and collect department records to respond to public records requests. Communicate, via email and phone, with members of the public submitting public records requests and with department staff concerning requests for and responses to public records requests. Conduct research on Florida law concerning public records. Review records for confidential and/or exempt information that warrants redaction. Serve as the liaison for requests related to the CFO or Capitol staff. Perform special assignments related to public records, such as assisting in the preparation of annual public records training for department staff.
