The Division of Habitat & Species Conservation is comprised of six Sections and two offices. This position works within the [insert name of Section/Office (Section or Office acronym)] of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Division of Habitat and Species Conservation.
This position works within the Wildlife Diversity Conservation Section (WDC) of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Division of Habitat and Species Conservation. This position will serve as a member of the Permitting and Incentives program and focus on providing administrative support and customer service to promote protected species conservation throughout Florida.
Minimum qualifications: A high school diploma and six years of professional experience in administrative work. A bachelor’s degree can substitute for four of the six years’ experience.
Description of Duties:
This Administrative Assistant works on a dynamic team and positively affects protected species conservation throughout Florida. This is a role in the Wildlife Diversity Conservation Section (WDC) that works to educate the public and conserve Florida’s diverse native protected species. This is an office-based position.
The main function of this position is to provide administrative support for protected species permitting, communications, and recordkeeping. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the protected species program’s primary email account, processing non-Florida resident falconry and peregrine falcon permits, file maintenance related to permits, recording financial transactions related to mitigation contributions, conducting purchase transactions, participating in meetings and other related administrative duties. The incumbent will be responsible for providing customer service to the public on protected species-related issues, primarily over the phone and by email, in a timely and professional manner. The individual in this position will serve as a contributing member of WDC and may handle other responsibilities related to protected species as appropriate.
Position may require occasional overnight travel.

FTE Employment Description: The position is FTE (Full Time Equivalent), which means that the employee is paid a bi-weekly salary. FTE employees are afforded health insurance benefits, participate in the Florida Retirement System, and receive paid leave and holidays.
