The Mission of the Office of Inspector General
The mission of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) is to assist the Commissioner of Education in achieving the department's mission of increasing student proficiency and maintaining an accountability system that measures student progress. The OIG accomplishes this by providing independent audits and reviews of programs and activities, conducting investigations of alleged violations, and offering consulting services to assist management in their efforts to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.

Job Description
This is an administrative assistant position within the Office of Inspector General (OIG). This position provides executive support to the Inspector General and staff. This position works independently performing human resources, travel, and procurement activities as well as general office administration.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:
- This position has expanded access to information and reports in the People First System. This access must be used for business purposes only. The incumbent must always maintain confidentiality of this information.
- This position provides administrative assistance and oversight to office staff in the performance of their assignments, as needed. This position will oversee the office support functions for the IG, as applicable.
- This position is responsible for answering the primary OIG phone line and routing callers within the OIG and throughout the DOE, addressing difficult calls with patience and professionalism.
- This position routes and tracks all OIG correspondence requiring the Commissioner’s signature.
- This position is responsible for processing personnel, procurement, and travel transactions and serves as liaison from the OIG to the DOE personnel, procurement, and travel sections.
- This position assists in daily processing of routine mail, including preparing, screening, stamping, and disseminating to staff.
- This position functions as Office Training Liaison, including procuring specialized CPE training for Auditors and Investigators and maintaining employee training records.
- This position compiles findings and recommendations from audit reports issued by either the Auditor General or the Chief Internal Auditor from the current fiscal year and the previous fiscal year, summarized in Schedule IX, and submitted as part of the standard final Legislative Budget Request.
- This position maintains adequate inventory of office supplies for the office and serves as the central point of contact between the Custodian Delegate and Inventory Agent within the OIG.
- This position performs other related duties as assigned.

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.

- Ability to handle difficult callers and work towards a successful resolution
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who have excellent organizational skills, administrative assistant experience, and a background in an Office of Inspector General or some other investigative office.

- Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
- Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
