THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY LOCATION, CONTACT, AND SALARY INFORMATION Location: Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Knight Building, 2737 Centerview Drive, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-3100. Starting Salary: $1,588.86 biweekly ($41,310.36 annually) (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever is higher.) Fridie, Assistant General Counsel 850-717-2455 DESCRIPTION: This position reports directly to the General Counsel, supervises support staff, and provides managerial, administrative, and secretarial support in a variety of duties and assignments, including • Supporting the General Counsel in daily office functions, calendars and assignments; • Serving as Agency Clerk, Human Resources (HR) Liaison, and Budget Liaison; • Participating in the development and administration of assigned budget for General Counsel's Office; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; • Reviewing monthly reports to ensure proper transactions occurred and ensure adequate operating budget for fiscal year; • Training, supervising, and evaluating assigned support staff; • Providing backup assistance to the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsels on administrative and clerical tasks, in the event that the assigned support staff are out of the office or unavailable; • Monitoring office equipment and supply needs. Arranging for maintenance and repair of office equipment. • Performing other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication. Ability to use standard business formats and styles for letters and business forms. Ability to use Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc.) Ability to operate general office equipment. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS At least two (2) years of experience as an office manager, administrative assistant, or secretary. Knowledge of office management procedures and practices. Prior experience working with Ariba on Demand (AOD), WORKS, and STMS (Statewide Travel Management System). SPECIAL NOTES All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check, criminal background checks (state, local, and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care position. DJJ participates in E-Verify (Employment Eligibility). When identified on a position description, a valid driver's license is required. If initially hire with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver's license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (business purpose/employment/education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided that the drive wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle. |
