POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a full-time position in the Public Records unit. The incumbent will be responsible for supervision of staff, spending the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating members while planning and directing their work. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Supervising and directing the support services of the Public Records unit, ensuring coordination and efficiency of functions and compliance with policies/procedures, along with applicable state and federal laws;
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of overall administrative duties and responsibilities of assigned personnel;
  • Evaluating performance of personnel;
  • Consulting with the Office of General Counsel staff to determine areas of concern and possible solutions to problems;
  • Forming, analyzing, and recommending changes in workflow strategies and procedures to the General Counsel;
  • Reviewing and routing correspondence, investigating subject matter and preparing, or directing the preparation of replies on FDLE programs and assuring the processing of routine matter, all within established policies;
  • Reviewing records and reports which require action and recommending solutions or courses of action; and
  • Performing special assignments and other related duties including assistance of legislative bill analysis, research, report preparation and performance of fiscal, personnel, purchasing, statistical, and reporting functions.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one year of management experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of management principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis;
  • Ability to supervise people;
  • Ability to manage a consultative program designed to ensure the resolution of managerial and operational problems;
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments;
  • Knowledge of legal pleadings format and style;
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Knowledge of law library and billing;
  • Ability to compile and analyze information as request by attorneys; and
  • Ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

BASE SALARY:

  • $68,289.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
