MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Certification as a licensed Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic by the Federal Aviation Administration with a valid Inspection Authorization and three (3) years of experience.

 

NOTE: ALL POSITIONS WITHIN THIS CLASS REQUIRE POSSESSION OF A VALID DRIVER LICENSE.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Occasional to moderate travel required.

 

Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.

 

JOB DUTIES:

 

This is a highly responsible technical position requiring a skilled aircraft mechanic who holds a current Airframe and Power Plant License. Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration authorizes maintenance and repair on modern sophisticated aircraft and turbine powered helicopters. Work is scheduled and performed under the supervision of the Aviation Maintenance Administrator. 

 

Performs maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding and alterations on assigned reciprocating engine aircraft and turbine engine helicopters as prescribed by applicable Federal Aviation Regulations; performs scheduled inspections on assigned aircraft; researches files for applicable airworthiness directives and complies with them. Completes necessary inspection forms and entries into log books; requests parts to be ordered in a timely manner. Maintains work space in a safe, neat and orderly manner.

 

Coordinates with the Aviation Maintenance Administrator and pilots in analyzing reported malfunctions of aircraft and assists or performs the necessary repairs or adjustments to these discrepancies.

 

Deploys to field locations as necessary to provide mechanical, fuel and helibase support to deployed aircraft. Performs routine and emergency maintenance and repairs to maintenance facilities and ground support equipment.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.
