POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position is responsible for assisting in the ongoing support and administration of the Department’s information security program.  The individual in this position will participate in vulnerability scanning and recommendations for remediation, vulnerability analysis, incident response management, and administration of security control solutions such as reviewing firewall rules, authorized software lists, and other relevant security controls.  This individual will also assist in formulation and maintenance of information security policies in conjunction with the FDLE Information Security Manager and serve as backup administrator for the agency’s hosted VoIP system.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Providing support for security tools to include end point detection and response (EDR), automatic and passive asset management tools, and external facing threat profiling tools to various groups within FDLE;
  • Planning, implementing, and performing vulnerability scanning across all FDLE ITS managed networks;
  • Addressing remediation of vulnerability scans through coordination or patching;
  • Conducting research and development in computer network and information system security technologies to support the planning and enhancement of the statewide distributed computer systems networks including hardware, software, and communications resources;
  • Assisting other members of the Network and Information Security team in formulating agency-wide security policies to meet legislative requirements;
  • Serving as a member of the Computer Security Incident and response team; and
  • Serving as backup for VoIP telephone system support.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of operating systems and/or telecommunications concepts;
  • Knowledge and experience with information security tools, services, and systems used to support an information security program within an organization;
  • Knowledge and experience in incident response, vulnerability threat assessment and mitigation;
  • Knowledge of operating systems as they relate to computer security and auditing;
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and network security methodologies;
  • Knowledge of Information Security concepts and best practices;
  • Ability to develop, test and evaluate security controls; and
  • Knowledge of routers, switches, VoIP systems and firewalls.

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
