Duties and Responsibilities
This position is a member of a fast-paced team focused on application development. This position will be using various programming techniques and will be expected to work with numerous technologies including but not limited to .NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server and Oracle.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented programming principles and best practices
- Knowledge of relational database design
- Knowledge of the concepts and theories of data processing and data communications
- Knowledge of agile application development techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, subordinates, technical staff and users
- Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to complete work assignments while working with business analysts and other technical staff
- Ability to follow operational and maintenance procedures
- Ability to utilize integrated development environment tools such as Visual Studio
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Ability to write, read and interpret technical specifications, test cases, and software requirements
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical data
- Skill in designing, developing, testing and deploying web-based applications
- Skill in designing, developing, testing and deploying database driven applications
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- 6 months of professional work experience in web application and/or database driven application development
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer related field from an accredited college or university
Job Related Requirements
- The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
- Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., although working on weekends may occasionally be required. This position may also be on-call after hours and weekends, and is eligible for overtime pay.
General Information
- The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
- Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
