To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or
  2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one year of experience as described above; or
  3. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or
  4. Three years of experience as described above and either (a) completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (b) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
  5. Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  6. Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position reports to the Network and Information Security Section in the Information Technology Services Division. Specific duties include: 

  • Assisting in the ongoing support and administration of the Department’s information security program;
  • Responsible for vulnerability scanning and recommendations for remediation, Security Information Event Management (SIEM) administration and analysis, incident response management, and administration of security control solutions;
  • Reviewing firewall rules, authorized software lists, and other relevant security controls;
  • Assisting in formulation and maintenance of information security policies in conjunction with the FDLE Information Security Manager;
  • Serving as the backup member responsible for the administration of a private business exchange (PBX) digital telephone switch supporting both TDM and VoIP endpoints, Automated Call Distribution (ACD) system and voice mail system which supports all activities located in the Headquarters complex and selected remote FDLE offices; and
  • Consulting, coordinating and assisting other members statewide with requests relating to telecommunication systems, equipment, facilities and services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and experience with information security tools, services, and systems used to support an information security program within an organization;
  • Knowledge and experience in incident response, vulnerability threat assessment and mitigation;
  • Knowledge of operating systems as they relate to computer security and auditing;
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and network security methodologies;
  • Knowledge of Information Security concepts and best practices;
  • Knowledge and expereince in operating system and/or telecommunications concepts;
  • Knowledge  and experience in VoIP telephone Systems;
  • Knowledge and experience in routers, switches and firewalls;
  • Knowledge and experience with SIEM systems; and
  • Ability to develop, test and evaluate security controls.

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
