Duties and Responsibilities
The Application Systems Programmer II is responsible for performing independent and technical work relating to software quality assurance in the development, analysis, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the DHSMV systems and applications. This may include the analysis of design documentation, requirements, and systems. Additional responsibilities include the development of test plans, test cases, and test scripts, along with performing test environment setup and the execution of both manual and automated tests. Following the execution of planned tests, this role is responsible for monitoring test progress, reporting test status, logging defects, tracking and retesting defect fixes in the defect management process.
The selected candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, characterized by constant interruptions, and strict adherence to deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill in the development of software test strategy and plans
- Knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
- Skill in the development of software test cases and script development
- Skill in the development of the planning, managing, and performance of software tests
- Skill in the ability to identify test conditions and create test designs, test cases, test procedure, and test data
- Skill in developing and executing functional, integration, and system tests
- Skill in the development of software defect management processes and methods
- Skill in using Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to interact with developers and team members to resolve defects, clarify functionality, and resolve usability issues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of data privacy and protection conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, subordinates, technical staff, and end-users verbally and in writing
- Ability to design, develop and test web-based, database-driven applications using industry-standard techniques
- Ability to utilize software requirements and testing tools such as Blueprint and Microsoft Test Manager
- Knowledge of automated software testing tool
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Developing and executing test scripts
- Reviewing business requirements and developing software test strategies or plans
- Testing web-based applications
- Analyzing test script statuses and determining root causes of defects
- Performing defect management
- Using Agile software development and automated test tools
- Using Structured Query Language (SQL)
Job-Related Requirements
- The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged.
