Duties and Responsibilities
This Application System Programmer III position functions as an integrated member of the Information Systems Administration team and will operate as a Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst on the Quality Assurance Team. The incumbent will perform various tasks related to the software development lifecycle. Duties will include: ensuring bi-directional requirements traceability, serving as the lead QA analyst on various IT projects, taking the lead in test data management tasks, performing audits to ensure the project team’s adherence to the established and approved policy and procedures for IT projects, gathering business requirements, developing and executing test scripts to validate software prior to implementation, assisting and supporting the accuracy of Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles’ software, analyzing test results, and assist in resolving testing issues.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Project Management and/or leading/facilitating IT related projects
- Business requirements gathering and documentation
- Writing tests and performing application testing tasks
- Operating as a team lead of a technical team
- Developing test scripts and test plans
- Performing defect management and performing web-based application testing
- Test Data Management experience
- Using Agile software development methodology
- Preference will also be given to applicants who have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor’s degree or higher with a major in computer science or management information systems
- Preference will be given to applicants who have completed a two year program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredit college in an area of information technology
Job Related Requirements
- The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
- Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., although being on-call and working outside regular business hours may be required periodically
General Information
- The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
- Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
